Backstage

A place where brands and anglers meet.

How are dreams born?

Every idea begins with a thought, a feeling, or a simple vision without a name, long before we start bringing it to life.

That’s how the Specimen Hunter project was born as well. In the beginning, it was just a feeling. Today, it has become a platform, an ecosystem that builds bridges across our human diversity.

From the very first moment, I knew what I wanted and where I was heading. I knew I wasn’t looking for a gap in the market, I didn’t want to copy others, and I refused to adapt. I chose a bolder path. I simply set out to create—by my own rules, by my conscience, against the current.

Specimen Hunter grows every single day in all the countries it reaches so far, and that only reassures me that the path I chose is the right one.

But even with a clear direction, one big question lingered in the air. How should I approach advertising and collaborations? I was searching for that incredibly thin line between an undisturbed experience and commerce. I knew collaborations were essential for keeping the whole system alive. Without them, the project wouldn’t be sustainable in the long run. At the same time, I wanted the platform to remain clean—free of aggressive marketing, user-friendly, and easy on the visitor’s eye.

So how do you find the balance? How can you build a platform without the ever-present banners that flood most websites today? Without texts and flashing logos stuffed behind every third word. Without pop-ups that jump over the text and force us to wait five seconds before we can finally close them—only to have another window steal our attention ten seconds later.

How to do it? What to hold on to? Where to look for inspiration?

Brands want their space. If you don’t show them, there’s no promotion, no collaboration. A simple equation.

And then it hit me. No gap, no set direction. Just like with the creation of Specimen Hunter. Simply loosen the reins, let creativity run free, and create. Without rules, once again against the current. That’s exactly how Backstage was born.

Backtage

I won’t describe here how I came up with this name—that would be a story for another article. What matters is that everything simply falls into place.

Backstage is a brand-new space where two seemingly distant worlds meet. It’s a place for creators, copywriters, brands, and companies—all tied together through community interaction.

Specimen Hunter is built on story, cinematic look, hunting-inspired visuals, transparency, and above all—difference. You won’t find a project like ours anywhere else. And a board like Backstage? Not at all. Boasting? No. Reality.

Backstage is like one big board full of posters à la stream. Each poster represents a post, a photo story, a film, an ad, or an article. A poster that doesn’t need to scream to be noticed—its presence in the right place is enough. Each one hides a window with information, and it’s up to you whether you continue on to the source.

A one-page layout shaped exactly by how each of us perceives it, with the option of interactive browsing. The content is sorted by TOP 10, the latest posts, and also by product groups. Looking for information, or just inspiration? This is Backstage. We’ll show you a product without clutter or censorship. Only what we ourselves would take to the water.

To brands, we offer the most valuable thing. Your interest, our reach—or rather, our pan-European presence.

Backstage is a stage where everyone has the space to step forward. Soon, another layer will be added: comments, experiences, and reactions from you, the anglers. Ratings—and above all—competitions. Competitions and challenges, just like the whole community, will live right here, where it makes sense for both sides.

So this is Backstage. The first advertising magazine in the world of quiet madmen.

A film clapperboard with the word Backstage and the launch date of the Specimen Hunter project.

David Dauchy – Specimen Hunter

David Dauchy

France

Photographer, filmmaker, writer and lover of poetry

Known for
  • Long-standing role in the management of Gardner Tackle France
  • Current partnership with the brands Forge Tackle and BlackDeere
  • International publishing activity (Carpe Scene Collector, KaproMánie and others)
  • The philosophy of the “Modern Nomad” and the discovery of forgotten waters

David Dauchy is the embodiment within the Specimen Hunter team of that “quiet voice” which gives modern carp fishing a literary and visual dimension. For David, time spent by the water is not a pursuit of mechanical success, but a deep self-reflection and a way of inhabiting time. His professional path is remarkable. For many years, he shaped the face of the French branch of the legendary Gardner Tackle brand, giving him immense technical insight and respect across Europe. Today, however, he directs his energy toward projects that resonate more closely with his current state of mind. As a modern nomad, he does not seek prestige on commercially exposed waters, but finds true adventure in forgotten places, where nature writes its own stories without human noise. His path is defined by a return to simple joys and honest quality, an attitude he also brings into his current work for the brands Forge Tackle and BlackDeere.

His authorial style is woven through with poetry and a deep respect for detail. David never leaves for the water without his notebook; pen and paper are tools just as important to him as his rods. With extraordinary sensitivity, he can capture the eternity hidden in carp scales, the texture of light on the surface, or the feeling of absolute solitude beneath the stars. In his hands, fishing becomes an act of resistance against modern haste, noise and superficiality. It is a slow philosophy in which the most important thing is “being in the present”, when the angler becomes an organic part of the landscape, not its conqueror. David believes that true fishing begins with waiting and listening, long before the first cast comes.

As a photographer and filmmaker, he does not focus on documenting technical triumph, but on capturing the fleeting mood of a moment. His visual signature is unmistakable in its dreamlike quality and fascination with the aesthetics of natural forms. He admires the old lines of carp, their history and the uniqueness of every detail, which he sees as nature’s living handwriting. For David, fishing is a dialogue between inner silence and the invisible world beneath the surface. He brings a noble, curatorial element to the Specimen Hunter project, reminding us that behind every taut line lies an attempt at a deeper connection with the elements. He is a nomad who teaches us to feel again, to breathe in and to perceive the world in the space between sky and water.

Tomáš Chylák – BARBAR

Tomáš Chylák – BARBAR

Slovakia

Carp angler, brand consultant, content creator

Known for
  • Systematic testing of carp fishing gear in real conditions
  • Collaboration with the brands Speedy BAITS, KarpMánia and KATRAN Fishing Line
  • Contributor to Slovenský rybár magazine and the Specimen Hunter platform
  • Creative production of video content and educational formats with an emphasis on authenticity

Tomáš Chylák, known in the fishing community by the nickname Barbar, represents a voice in modern carp fishing that seeks answers in details and honest testing. Although he has been intensely focused on the targeted fishing of big fish for the past four years, his path is defined by exceptionally rapid progression. Tomáš’s approach is not built on chance, but on building trust in a system, from choosing the right line to the precise presentation of the bait. For him, tackle is not just a product, but a tool for understanding the connections beneath the surface.

His fishing world is defined by contrast. On small stillwaters, he sharpens his patience and sense for detail, where every movement and the right tactical choice decide success under heavy pressure. By contrast, on vast expanses of water such as Zemplínska šírava, he looks for freedom and space for broader thinking. He sees precisely this balancing between the intimate world of small pools and the endless horizon of large reservoirs as a key element of his own development and his understanding of fish instincts.

A significant part of Tomáš’s identity is sharing experience. As an author and content creator, he does not aim merely to present catches, but to convey the real atmosphere from the water. His work, from specialist articles to dynamic video formats, combines educational value with perspective and humour. Tomáš understands that modern carp fishing requires a modern language, but its core, silence, focus and respect for nature, must remain unchanged.

As a tester working with leading brands, he places emphasis on practical usability in the situations that truly decide the outcome. His goal is not quantity, but depth of experience and the ability to pass on what he has learned by the water. In this way, he naturally complements the mosaic of personalities that make up the world of Specimen Hunter.

Radek Švec – Specimen Hunter

Radek Švec

Czech Republic

Angler, editor, big carp hunter

Known for
  • Long-term focus on fishing for Europe’s biggest carp
  • Editor-in-chief of Rybářství magazine
  • Former editor-in-chief of Lovkapra.com
  • Contributor to Czech and international fishing media
  • Member of the Fox International and Schmidt Experience teams

Radek Švec is one of those anglers who have chosen a narrow and demanding path. Instead of taking a broad approach, he has long focused on a single goal: the systematic pursuit of truly big carp. Not as an episode or a one-season challenge, but as a lifelong direction that demands time, discipline and the ability to accept long periods without results.

His development as an angler began with float fishing and lure fishing, where he was already making his mark at a competitive level at a young age. Gradually, however, he moved away from performance measured in points and rankings toward performance measured in patience. For the past ten years, he has devoted himself exclusively to fishing for big carp, travelling across Europe in pursuit of them and repeatedly returning to the same places until he truly understands them.

He has dozens of carp over 30 kilograms to his name, as well as fish over the 70-pound mark from five different European countries. In 2019, he managed to break the 40-kilogram barrier, which many carp anglers see as a symbolic milestone. These results are not presented as one-off records, but as the outcome of long-term pressure placed on himself, on logistics, preparation and the ability to work with failure.

Alongside fishing, he has also made a strong mark on the media scene. As an author, he has published dozens of articles in Czech and international magazines, and from 2021 to 2025 he ran the online magazine Lovkapra.com. Since 2025, he has been editor-in-chief of Rybářství magazine, where he works at the intersection of editorial work, content management and shaping the direction of one of the longest-running fishing titles in the country.

Radek’s approach is direct and open. For him, a big fish is not a metaphor, but a goal. He does not look for shortcuts or excuses, accepts the risk that most sessions will end without a bite, and builds on the fact that an extreme result demands extreme focus. It is precisely this clarity that makes him a striking counterpoint to other fishing approaches and an important voice within the broader spectrum of Specimen Hunter.

Michal Jakoubek – Specimen Hunter

Michal Jakoubek

Specimen Hunter

Founder of Specimen Hunter, filmmaker, photographer, author

Known for
  • Founder of Specimen Hunter and SpecimenHunter TV
  • Founder of Specimen Productions s.r.o.
  • Author of the overall vision, visual identity and structure of the platform
  • Filmmaker, photographer and copywriter
  • Founder of the WERM studio and Carpblogger.com projects

Michal Jakoubek has been at the birth of Specimen Hunter from the very beginning. Not only as its founder, but as the person who gave the platform its direction, rhythm and form. Specimen Hunter was not born as a collective compromise, but as a clearly led vision backed by one mind and long-term work.

He is a filmmaker and photographer, but also the author of the texts, concepts and technical solution behind the entire platform. He is involved in every layer of the project, from visual identity and content to the structure of the website and the way language is used. His texts appear in various magazines and journals, always with an emphasis on context, calm and story.

SpecimenHunter TV is a natural continuation of this path. Not as a fast-paced format, but as a space for films that work with silence, time and atmosphere. For content that does not explain fishing, but gives it meaning. It is precisely this combination of authorial control and open space that defines Specimen Hunter as a whole.

Editorial office – Specimen Hunter

Editorial Team

Specimen Hunter

The shared voice of the platform

Specimen Hunter in a nutshell
  • A media platform connecting fishing, nature and cinematic storytelling
  • A project built on deep context rather than fast content consumption
  • A space for authors, filmmakers and creators without the pressure of product promotion
  • A curated ecosystem of articles, films and ideas that give fishing a broader meaning

Editorial Team is the signature we use when an article is not the personal authorial narrative of one person, but an output of Specimen Hunter as a whole. It is content that represents the platform’s view, its direction and the way we think about fishing, nature and media.

Editorial texts are created where the work of several people comes together. They often involve an author, editor, translator or content curator. They are not the subjective view of one angler by the water, but texts meant to give things context, explain connections and name the positions the platform stands behind.

If an article is signed as Editorial Team, it means it is meant to represent Specimen Hunter as a team and as a project. Without added emotion, without personal ambitions, without pressure to perform. Just the calm, clear and responsible voice of the platform.

Lukáš Krása – Specimen Hunter

Lukáš Krása

Czech Republic

Bait developer, angler, author

Known for
  • Author of two essential books on carp fishing
  • Long-time contributor to Czech and international magazines
  • One of the respected figures on the European carp fishing scene
  • Founder of LK Baits, LK Baits Pet and co-founder of Rybářství Sahara

Lukáš Krása is one of those people who have shaped the modern understanding of carp fishing not only through results on the bank, but above all through a way of thinking. He is the author of two books that have become a firm part of fishing literature, and his texts have long appeared in Czech and international magazines. They are not guides or product manuals, but an effort to understand the fish, the water and the connections that, at first glance, remain hidden beneath the surface.

His approach is rooted in a deep interest in carp biology, natural feeding signals and the behaviour of fish over time. It was precisely this need to understand, rather than the pursuit of quick results, that gradually led him to develop his own baits and to create the LK Baits brand. For him, technology and innovation have never been ends in themselves, but a means of testing the ideas he writes about and thinks through.

Despite international respect and a long journey behind him, his view of fishing remains surprisingly simple. The fish is not a trophy and success is not a number. What matters is the process, observation and the story that unfolds before the bite even comes. It is precisely this calm, analytical and human voice that makes Lukáš fit into the world of Specimen Hunter.
